Poaching Incident

A poaching incident was reported and interrupted at Barcombe Mills on Sunday 23rd March by a committee member and friend of the society. The poachers were pike fishing. Needless to say we find this completely unacceptable that fishing should take place in the close season where pike are either spawning - or recovering post spawning.

The police were informed and the vehicle tracked. I've had a good conversation with the rural crime department this week who have clarified that if fishing in the close season is observed we are in fact witnessing a crime in progress and the incident should be called into 999.

The advise is to get the vehicle registration if possible and call in the location to 999 immediately.

The rural crime team are going to increase their patrols around Barcombe Mills.
